A few times over this past summer of 2018, I made an effort to park near the uptown bus terminal (without getting a ticket!) and pass out freeze pops to bus drivers, passenger, workers, police officers, whomever. As with the other times, I get really nervous about doing it… Will anyone want a freeze pop? Am I some kind of lunatic for doing this? All these things go through my head. But once I begin, I am glad I took the chance to reach out to the community on a miserably hot day.
“How much are they?” “They are free.” “Free?” “Yes. Would you like one?” “Yes! You know, you could make a lot of money selling these for 25 cents apiece or even 50 cents apiece. You should do that!” “I’m not doing this to make money. I just thought folks might like something cool to eat on this terribly hot day.” One woman said to me, “This is your ministry.” I smiled back and continued around the terminal until I ran out of ‘pops.
